Just a few points I guess, starting with base management.Д«asically, your long term goal is to cover as many countries as you can with satellites (focus on one continent at a time if you can, to grab their bonus), because they increase your income, reduce panic and prevent abduction in that country. If you don't know the game at all, there's too much to be said, but you'll learn most of it from playing normally, just make sure you read descriptions (like adjacency bonus for buildings, and click the '?' for item description. The bonus is good to increase your squad size quickly (that is quiet soon in the game, when money is scarce), and there's many projects in the foundry so it's nice to reduce their cost. Asia is good, because like Europe you make sure you won't lose that bonus, which is hard to get since you'd otherwise need 5 sats to grab it. So it's a pretty good start, even on impossible, if you want to rush satellites and keep every country. Africa, the money is almost as good as N America since the starting money already benefits from the bonus, and if you launch a satellite (possibly over the USA), it'll be better than NA by the second month already. Just to add about the interceptor cost reduction: by the time it becomes useful, that is when you start having some all over the place, you'll also have satellites all over the place, meaning a good enough income. And since only the USA give a lot of money, it means only 1 satellite later will be enough to increase your income. Yet the difference isn't big compared with Africa. North America, best starting money and cost reduction on interceptors, but you won't need many interceptors per continent anyway, so it's basically just for money. The other advantage from Europe is that you will keep the bonus even if you lose countries from the continent, but that's the same with Asia which has a more useful bonus anyway. And again that's all about money, so why limit the benefit to a couple buildings. Even if you can keep all 16 countries, by choosing abductions that provide engineers, I think 4 workshops is enough to build enough uplinks. Europe seems good, but it actually isn't that much because you can do a whole playthrough with only one lab (probably not even required, definitely not at the beginning), and you won't need enough workshops to make the bonus worth it. There are better things to research than corpses, at the beginning, like lasers or armor. Until then, it doesn't help and provides little money. South America, probably the worst one: sure, it has a nice bonus when you research corpses and interrogate live aliens, but it's only 2 countries, so it's the easiest continent to grab later, when you actually have some use for that bonus. Well basically it's all about money, except for South America, so let's see: You can wait until there's a day or two before the council report and then launch the satellites to keep max panic countries in. Even if they are at max panic they won't withdraw until the end of the month. When you're ready to get coverage over a continent, ignore abduction mission for them and instead focus on other continents.

You'll get the first satellite for free on normal. That'll reduce the satellite cost by $31. Wait for the early abduction mission in the 1st month and take the 4 engineers. If playing on the harder difficulties, don't immediately build your first satellite.
